Decorating with Natural Elements
What's the first thing you think of when you here DECORATING WITH NATURAL ELEMENTS?
OK...what does the word NATURAL mean to you?
Maybe twigs and branches?
This is the encyclopedias definition..."existing in or caused by nature; not made or caused by humankind."
Think about what's in your home right now. What colors are in your home now? Do you have any metallics in your home?
Relaxed and casual, or fitted and Traditional. Doesn't matter, there's all sorts of NATURAL ELEMENTS for you to incorporate into your home.
Just simple 100% cotton pillows are perfect, there a must have and you'll have them year round.
Beautiful wood table lamps with linen shades. Again a must have lasting year long.
Sisal area rugs. Now we're just starting in the midst of fall, so you probably want soft and cozy area rugs for under your feet, but what about hallways, or your back entry way?
Simple wood bowls throughout your house to hold things like keys in the entry, jewelry in your bedroom, the next recipe you want to make in your kitchen and your new favorite soap in the bathroom.
Any of these would be beautiful in any style home you have, with any colors you have.
Even if you don't feel like putting much effort into incorporating NATURAL ELEMENTS into your home right now, at least bring in a full bush of greenery. Plunk in a vase with a small amount of water.
As you begin paying attention to what you put into your home, the more you'll think about whether or not it's NATURAL. It's very common for us to have NATURAL wood furniture, this goes without saying. However when we begin to look for things to fill our bookcases, shelves, pantries or hutches, we tend to look for color - the colors we love. This is perfectly fine. Please continue doing this, but also incorporate some NATURAL elements into them for a look that's very interesting and might just create a focal point within the room.
Yes, we're all thinking about fall right now and all the beautiful natural pumpkins in their awkward shapes and colors, pine cones dusting the streets and vibrant leaves glistening on the trees.
Rather than just stopping to enjoy all it's beauty, share some of this beauty inside your home. Yes you'll be buying the pumpkins you'd like to decorate your home, but why not pick up a bag full of acorns sitting right outside your front door. Or some of that tall glass you see sitting on the sides of streets.
The grass is easy, just pick a bunch of it, wrap either an elastic or piece of craft wire around the bottom and plump inside a vase and pull apart to decorate a side table.
Your acorns are a whole different story. You could leave them natural sitting pretty in a bowl, or you could decide to paint them.
I just now that no matter how you choose to incorporate a little NATURAL ELEMENTS into your home this year - it's going to be beautiful!
