How To Make St. Patrick's Day

Pillows

Hello my Friends! As we approach the wonderful holiday of St. Patrick's Day, I wanted to put a bug in your hear in letting you know that our love for pillows continues.

Especially with these super simply stencil pillows. I've shared in the past how to make these, but in case you missed it - I'll share it with you here today.

Materials:

  • Pillow covers
  • Stencil
  • Fabric paint
  • Pounces foam brush

No matter what the season or holiday, Amazon is sure to please with their selection of pillow covers. I absolutely love these in velvet and linen and certainly these solid ones could be left out year round.

Pack of 2 Velvet 18" x 18" $11.98

Pack of 2 Linen 18" x 18" $13.99

Pack of 2 Velvet 18" x 18" $14.99

I've been searching for a 3-Leaf Clover stencil and found one on Amazon and not please with the price of $14.99.

So what's a girl to do? Umm...make my own stencil! I made this 3-Leaf Clover ready to print on 11" x 8 1/2" card stock.

I can't believe I just thought of doing this. After you print out the clover, cover each side with pieces of seran wrap. This will allow you to use paint on it without destroying your stencil. Then cut out using an X-acto knife or something similar.

Because you'll be cutting through paper and plastic, you'll need to go very slowly when cutting out.

Then once cut out, go ahead and stencil it onto your pillow covers. Just center it onto your pillow cover, tape the top and bottom, then using your pouncing sponge and dry brush technique, color in your stencil.

Remember dry brushing is excellent for stenciling because it prevents paint from going underneath the stencil.

When your creating your pillows, remember that it doesn't need to be perfect.
