How gorgeous are these ornaments. Simulated from vintage one's that were very popular. There called diorama ornaments because they have a seen on the inside.

Materials you'll need to make these

  • Plastic Ornaments
  • Dremel Tool fitted with a cutting disk
  • Acrylic Paint in your choice of colors
  • White Glue
  • Iridescent Glitter
  • Cotton Balls
  • Toothpick
  • Vintage and new miniatures
  • Little bottle brush trees
  • Hot Glue and Glue Gun
  • Pipe Cleaner
  • Wire Snippers
  • Ribbon or Twine for hanging

To start with, draw a line to use as a cutting guide on the front of your ornament. Draw the circle to be about 1/2 to 3/4″ away from the seam in the center of the ornament.

Begin cutting the ornament on this line with your dremel tool starting on low.

Finish cutting out the piece that you marked.

Gently sand the edges of the ornament. You could use a nail file for this.

Depending on what you buy for ornaments, you may decide to paint the outside. If so, place a piece of twine, thread, something to hang it from and hang it somewhere - on a curtain rod? Then simply paint the outside of your ornament. You may need to paint two coats.

Paint the inside of the ornament in the color of your choice - with a second coat if needed and allow to dry thoroughly.

Using a small craft paint brush, paint white glue inside, then sprinkle with iridescent glitter. Shake out the excess and allow to dry.

Hot glue your little miniatures into the ornament.

Take some cotton balls and pull apart and use on the bottom of the ornaments as snow.

One great place to look for miniature decorations is in the doll house department at your local craft store.
